Katja Lichtenstein, born 1973, studied law at the University of Hamburg and completed her legal clerkship in Schleswig-Holstein. After completing her second state examination in 2003, she initially worked as an in-house lawyer and was admitted to the bar in 2005. In 2007 she earned a Master of Laws degree from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

After her return from New Zealand, she worked as an attorney in her own law firm in Hamburg with several other professionals. Ms. Lichtenstein joined the Ballindamm notary's office as in-house legal counsel in 2019, having previously worked in the same capacity in another major Hamburg notary's office since 2016.
